Facebook has become the most popular and a very important area of many
people social life. For many people this is the primary way they communicate
with the world and with their families. “Social network sites like Facebook can
be used by groups to maintain both the social and task aspects of their
relationships.” CMC relationships are a lot easier to maintain then F2F
relationships because of the effort it takes to maintain them. CMC requires
only minutes to maintain and simple messages and contact. F2F relationships
take a lot of effort to maintain and they are usually maintained by lunch
plans, nights out and casual meet ups. Facebook has created a little world
where a person can keep track of friends and families lives without leaving
their home. A person can track friends or families activities, movements and accomplishments
all through a click of a button and a like or short message.
Hi Jayden Caleb, I thought you did a great job answering this question. Facebook has become widely popular. A big majority of people that I know, including myself, have an active Facebook account. You stated that some people use Facebook as a way to communicate with their family and friends. I definitely agree with you because Facebook allows me to keep contact with my family members and friends who live away from me. I am able to keep up with what is going on in their lives, share photos of holiday events, and communicate at my convenience. You discussed how CMC relationships are easier to maintain than f2f because CMC only takes a few minutes to type. I think that is a good point. Nice work this week!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was very interesting how you brought up how CMC relationships are easier to maintain the face to face relationships. I feel with social networks like Facebook you can go without talking to someone for years; but after just one message you guys are able to catch up on all the things missed, and even make things feel like old times. With face to face relationships the effort is a lot harder to maintain because it takes the physical contact of the members involved in communicating. I also feel that with networks like Facebook people are able to show their true color. While in face to face communication some people may be nervous, not talk much in person, or have social difficulties that hinder them from developing relationships with others.
