I thought this project was a very insightful and useful
project. I was able to gain knowledge into different groups and learn about
their organization as well as how they are structured. I thought this was a
great exercise because it made us get out of our comfort zones and actually
engage in the community. I really liked the fact that I was able to look
into groups and organizations that I would not normally get a chance to learn
about. I know that if I did not have a connection within the organization that
I may not have found an organization to observe. I think that there could be a
list of organizations on campus that we could refer to. I also think that
working in groups of two would allow us to have interaction with each other
outside of responding to blogs. I also think that the amount of time given to
us was great because many times our visits were a week apart.
Hello Jayden! I love your response to the observation post. I thought it was a great semester long project as well! You suggestion toward the end were very insightful and I didn't think about them. Referring us to groups or having a list for examples is an excellent idea, especially to students who don't know that much about SJSU or the activities and groups on/around campus. Your next suggestion, working in pairs of two is also a great idea. I suggested in one of the other post that we have a live chat of some sort to be more connected with one another. Working in pairs can stimulate some of that. It can also make the project more in depth. I had a lot of fun with this project and was able to learn quite a few things and apply that knowledge to my everyday life. Hope you could too.
ReplyDeleteHi Micah Almond! Your discussion post was very interesting to read. During the time I was reading your post, I kept saying, " I agree with that," and "I never really thought about that idea." You definitely provided effective feedback for the project and things that can be included in the future. I also felt that the project was a way for us to get involved in other things, rather than just work and school. Another point that I agree with is providing a list of some organizations that we can observe on campus. As the observer, we don't have to choose a group from the list, but it give us an idea of groups that we can study. It also gives us some insights of different organizations on campus that we might've not known about. Great job! (:
