2). What have you learned throughout this class? What was your favorite thing about the class? What was your least favorite thing about the class? How can this class be improved?
During this class I learned a lot about groups and interactions that take place within groups. I also am able to look more at how the groups I am in behave and how I can adapt and learn from them. My favorite thing about the class was the movie research because it allows you to look at movies differently then you normally would. I also liked the blogging aspect of the class because it allowed us all to have interaction with each other. My least favorite thing was the lack of group work that we had. I think that working with your peers is something that helps build camaraderie and allows us to build connections. I think by adding group work within the class it will build a sense of unity between the students. I also think that keeping the blog aspect is a great part of the class and it should remain.
I thought the same thing when it came to things that could probably help improve this class and was my least favorite. I felt that being in a class that taught us about the communication techniques to help improve group communication we should have probably done more group work. For me it just probably would have helped us be a little more active with the material we were learning in during the semester. I know that the observation project could have been done with others but I just think group activity should’ve probably been like a mandatory thing. But the class was still helpful and entertaining, and it for sure didn’t hurt the class not doing group work. I enjoyed this semester!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, throughout the semester participating in this class, I never realized how we never participated online in small groups which is ironic since it is a small group communication class! None the less, looking back, I do not feel the lack of working in small groups prohibited our understanding of group communication since we did so many other activities such as research to convey the knowledge. I am actually glad we did not work in groups since I am not the biggest fan of doing so. It would have still been interesting though if we would have participated in groups doing small assignments or projects.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post. You listed a lot of good points. I agree, I can now look at groups in a different light and am able to adapt and learn from them. The movie research paper was pretty good; it enabled me to look at a movie that I would have normally not watched. In the end, I enjoyed watching pride and prejudice. I completely agree with you about the blogging aspect and lack of group projects. It’s ironic, that this class Small Group Communication, doesn’t have many opportunities for us to work as small groups. Though we interact in the blogs and comment on each other’s opinions and posts, we do not get to collaborate much and work towards a common goal or project. Regardless, the class was good.
